Being local matters less than being reachable

Web design has spent twenty years selling proximity, and for a long time that made sense. It made sense when building a site meant meetings, printed proofs, and someone driving over with a laptop. It does not describe the work anymore.

What actually matters is whether the person who built your site answers when you need something changed. A studio ten minutes away that takes four days to reply is worse than one four provinces away that replies in an hour. We would rather be judged on that than on a postal code.

So: if you are in Winnipeg, come have coffee, we genuinely like that part. If you are not, nothing about the work changes.

What a remote build looks like

A fifteen minute call at the start, which is where the copy comes from. Then a private URL with a real draft on it, usually within a few days. Then text messages, because that is how people actually communicate about small changes.

Time zones inside Canada are not a real obstacle. We work Winnipeg hours, which overlaps everyone from Victoria to Halifax for most of a working day.

The one thing we cannot do remotely is take your photos. If you have good ones, great. If you do not, we will tell you honestly whether it is worth hiring someone local for an afternoon, because for some businesses it is the highest return money in the whole project.

Manitoba first, everywhere after

Our roots and most of our clients are in Manitoba: Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach, Winkler, Selkirk, Portage la Prairie, and the towns between them. We also work into northwestern Ontario, and with businesses across the rest of Canada.

We are a small studio and we take on what we can do properly. If we are not the right fit for your project, or if you would genuinely be better served by someone in your own city who knows your market, we will say so on the first call. That is cheaper for everyone than finding out in week three.
