What managed actually means here

Hosting is sold as storage and bandwidth, which is roughly like selling a restaurant as square footage. Here is what is genuinely in it.

• Edge delivery. Your site is served from Cloudflare's network, which means it is delivered from somewhere close to the visitor rather than from one machine in one city.
• The certificate. HTTPS, issued and renewed automatically, forever. Expired certificates are one of the most common ways a small business site suddenly starts scaring visitors.
• Backups and versioning. Content is versioned, so a bad edit is reversible.
• Uptime that is watched. Not a status page you are expected to check.
• The edits. This is the part conventional hosting does not include at all. Changes to the site are part of the plan, not a separate invoice.
• A human. Winnipeg hours, and a phone number that reaches a person who knows your site.

Why these sites are fast, specifically

Speed is not a feature we bolt on, it is a consequence of how the sites are built. There is no database query on page load, no plugin chain, no render-blocking third-party stylesheet, and no framework shipped to the browser to draw a page that could have been HTML.

The practical effect is that a page is small and arrives quickly on a bad connection. That matters most for exactly the businesses people assume it does not matter for: the rural shop whose customers are on two bars in a truck, and the trades business being looked up on a phone in a driveway.

It also matters for search. Page speed is a real ranking input, and more importantly it is a real conversion input. People leave slow sites.

What you are actually buying

One build, then an ongoing plan that covers the hosting, the security, the edits and the support. No contract, cancel any month, and your domain is yours the whole time and leaves with you if you go.

We do not do the thing where hosting is cheap and every change is billable. That model quietly punishes you for keeping your site current, which is the one thing you should be doing.
