Squarespace solves the problem people think they have. You pick a template, it looks good immediately, and the relief is genuine. Then you sit down to fill it in and discover the actual problem: the template is built around large, beautiful photography and confident, minimal copy, and you have neither.

This is why so many Squarespace sites look slightly wrong in a way the owner cannot articulate. It is not the design. It is a design that is writing cheques the content cannot cash. A gorgeous full-bleed hero needs a gorgeous full-bleed photo, and a phone snap of a work van in a parking lot is not it.

• You enjoy running it. Same as with Wix. If this is a thing you like doing, do it.
• Budget is tight. It is meaningfully cheaper than any managed arrangement.
