One crew,
start to finish.

Great Horn Construction builds residential and commercial in Winnipeg. The site had to convince a homeowner and a property manager on the same page, without talking down to either.

The situation

Great Horn had a site. It loaded, it listed services, and it had been assembled inside a page builder over a couple of years by whoever was available. The result was the usual: a homepage stitched out of builder widgets, each one carrying its own wrapper markup, its own spacing rules, and its own idea of what a heading was.

That has a cost you feel before you can name it. The page reads as a stack of unrelated boxes instead of one argument. Changing anything means fighting the tool. And structurally it was a mess under the hood, with the same heading level used for nearly every section title, which flattens the whole page for anything trying to understand it.

What we did

We rebuilt the homepage natively inside the CMS they already use, rather than moving them onto our platform. That was the right call and it is worth being clear about why: Great Horn's team knows that admin, their photo library lives in it, and the value we could add was in the build quality, not in relocating them somewhere they would have to relearn.

The rebuild is a real one. Content lives in native slides and tiles instead of pasted markup, so it stays editable by a human who is not us. Total custom CSS on the finished page is about two kilobytes, which is the number we care about most: it means almost nothing is being held together by overrides that will break the first time someone drags a tile.

We also set up the project galleries as a repeatable workflow rather than a one-time upload. Photos come off a phone or out of an email, get stripped of location metadata, get resized, and go up. That last part matters more than it sounds. Construction photos are taken on site, and site photos carry GPS coordinates of a client's house.

What changed

The homepage now argues in a sequence: who we are, proof we have done it, the commercial side, the process, then social proof and the ask. Accreditations sit near the top because for a contractor that is the trust hurdle, not a footnote.

Analytics are live, which sounds trivial and was not. Before this you could not tell whether the site was doing anything at all, which meant every marketing decision was a guess.

The operational change is the one Great Horn actually notices: a finished project can be on the site the same week it wraps, because putting it there no longer requires a developer.

worth saying plainly

Great Horn stayed on their existing CMS, so this is not a Nostedt-hosted site. We are not going to pretend otherwise to make the portfolio look tidier.
